About Yamie Chess Math Comics

Math Lessons as Comic Stories!

“The Yamie Chess story can be seen as a braid, where chess, math problems, and the story of chess genius, Kimi, are interwoven.”Professor Ashley Ahlin, PhD, Mathematics (University of Chicago)

Launched at the American International Toy Fair 2014 in New York City, Yamie Chess offers fun math lessons for 5 to 12 year old students that build on the recognized educational value of the classic chess grid to assist children’s cognitive development and math skills for school.

Written by experienced math teachers with combined decades of classroom teaching experience in public schools, Yamie Chess’ math lessons span important concepts in alegbra, geometry, and numbers for elementary and middle school students, delivered within an exciting framework of cartoon adventure stories.

In Yamie Chess, the emphasis is on exploring math ideas with hand-holding guidance and the creativity of the classic chess game to nurture children’s young minds towards success in math class.

The Yamie Chess book is now downloadable in eBook format and continues to teach children math and chess concepts through a cartoon framework, with characters who represent the classic chess pieces.

Focused on supplemental K-8 math education, Yamie Chess enables each child to learn important STEM concepts, like algebra, numbers, and geometry, at her or his own pace.

Recommended as a 2014 School Library Journal Best Education Pick, Yamie Chess won The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval and is a Mom’s Choice Gold Seal Recipient.

Yamie Chess’ K-8 supplemental math materials are advised by experienced math teachers from some of America’s foremost educational institutions including MIT, Harvard, Caltech, University of Chicago and Yale.

Our math aids benefit from advisory work by international U.S. chess masters like 2-time American Women’s chess champion Jennifer Shahade and International Master Jeremy Silman famed for designing the Wizard’s Chess scene in Warner Bros. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, 2001.

The company sold out of its U.S.-manufactured first print run of math learning aids in mid-2015. To date, we have donated USD $230,000 of math sets to Kids In Need Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and U.S. military families through the Toy Industry Foundation. Yamie Chess Ltd. is presently focused on a digital future where we can reach more schoolchildren worldwide through tablet and mobile downloads.

To that end, in 2015 Yamie Chess signed an institutional school distribution agreement with Follett School Solutions and published the eBook version of our award-winning math learning aid, Yamie Chess: The Adventures of Tigermore and the Mind Angels via Apple iBooks, Google Play, Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook and Kobo.

Parents and elementary/middle school teachers can use Yamie Chess’ math learning eBooks to help children build their foundation of math knowledge, and supplement learning of new educational concepts. For example, Yamie Chess’ Math King of Dallas teaches 11+ year old students the fundamentals of geometry and provides a basic introduction to linear algebra, reviewed by Yale University’s Professor Michelle Lacey, Ph.D.

Our most popular math comic provides a fun way for beginners to learn the basics of classic chess. It can be downloaded from YamieChess.com in international ePub format for any android or apple device.
